How do I set up medication – morning and evening, just for us?
Four building blocks that solve the case together: several times a day turns “morning before breakfast” and “evening after dinner” into one task. Group as puts several medications at the same time on one card. Private shows them only to the assignees. Important nags until it is done. The example: grandma’s medication, looked after by Anna and Tom.
Part 1
Several times a day: one task, two times
Until now every dose needed its own task. Now one task gets two to six times per day – each with its own time, an optional window and a note like “before breakfast”.
- Create the task
Manage → Task templates → new task, e.g. “Ramipril 5 mg”. Area “health”, object “grandma”, a picture if you like.
- Choose the recurrence
Under “When?” choose the day type: daily, certain weekdays, every 2 days, monthly … Anything that counts days works. Not possible with “time window within the week”, “after last completion” and “on demand only”.
- Switch on “Several times a day”
Below the time, switch on Several times a day. A list of times appears.
- Enter the times
First time 07:00, note “before breakfast”, optional window 06:30 to 08:00. Second time 19:00, note “after dinner”. Up to six times, all on the same day.
- Save
From now on a separate task is created per day and time: “Ramipril 5 mg · 07:00 · before breakfast” and “… · 19:00 · after dinner”. The preview of the next dates shows both.
Each dose is its own completion: its own points, its own reminder relative to its time, its own end-of-day expiry, its own nagging. Two doses a day count as two completions for streaks and rates. If you change a time later, the planned dates move along; if you remove a time, its untouched dates disappear.
Part 2
Group as: three medications, one card
Grandma gets Ramipril, vitamin D and eye drops at 7:00. Three tasks, but nobody wants three cards and three reminders. Same name under “group as”, same time, same person – and it becomes one card.
- Give the name
In each of the three tasks enter the same name under Group as, e.g. “Grandma’s medication”. The app suggests names already in use.
- Match time and person
Only what is due at the same minute and belongs to the same person is grouped. The 19:00 doses therefore automatically form a second card.
- On Today: one card
“Grandma’s medication (3) · 07:00” with the three entries and the button Alle erledigt. In the widget, on the kitchen display and on the TRMNL there is one line instead of three. One reminder instead of three: “Grandma’s medication – 3 tasks: Ramipril, vitamin D, eye drops”.
“All done” only appears if all entries are simple ticks. If one requires proof (checklist, photo, reading), you tick it individually. Buddy tasks and tasks up for grabs are not grouped.
Part 3
Private: only for the assignees
Not everyone in the household needs to see grandma’s medication – and certainly not the kitchen display. “Private” applies to every task, not just medication: that is how you keep your own things just for you.
- Set the assignment
Private needs concrete assignees: a fixed person, a group, rotation or “each for themselves” – here the “parents” group. With “open” or “fair without group” the switch stays off: Erst jemanden zuständig machen.
- Switch on “Private”
Switch on Private. Below it the app shows: “Only for Anna, Tom – and whoever created it.”
- Who sees it now?
Only the assignees and the person who created it – other admins not. It is missing from the kitchen display, the e-ink image, the TRMNL and other people’s overview. Reminders, comments and confirmations only go to this circle.
Private tasks count normally for points, goals and the effort distribution. Where others would see a completion, it only says “private task” – without title, picture or proof.
One-time tasks can be private too – as soon as a person is chosen. Routines cannot.
Part 4
Important and expiry: never slip, never catch up
Medication must not slip – but a forgotten morning dose should not be taken twice in the evening as “overdue” either. You set both on the task.
- Important task
Switch on Important task and e.g. Nag until done every 30 minutes, at most 4 times, plus As a time-sensitive notification. Details in the guide to important tasks.
- If it is not done
Under “If it is not done” choose expires at the end of the day: a forgotten dose disappears at the end of the day instead of piling up until Friday. Adults see expired tasks in the overview under “Not done”.
Part 5
What it looks like day to day
For Anna and Tom the card “Grandma’s medication (3) · before breakfast” appears – on Today, in the widget, as one notification. Whoever gives the medication taps “All done”. The points go to the person who tapped.
The same card again, “after dinner”. Forgotten? From 19:00 the app nags – and at midnight the dose expires instead of showing up twice tomorrow.
Kids, guests and the kitchen display see none of it. In the history, others only see “private task” with points.
collabDoo · All for one. Done by all.
One task instead of six.
Several times a day, grouped, private, important – set up once.
